This term in art we are learning about Abstract Artists. Do you know what abstract art is?? the first artist we have learnt about is Piet Mondrian. He was a Dutch artist and was born on March 7 1872 and died on February 1st 1944. He used mainly primary colours in his art work. He also used a mix of straight vertical and horizontal lines.
We are creating our own pieces of art work in the style of Piet Mondrian.
Here is an animoto showing what he looked like and some of his art work.

3J's Festival of Festivals
In Term 2 we investigated HOW AND WHY PEOPLE CELEBRATE? We tried to answer these questions during our inquiry unit - "What do Communities Celebrate?" "What International celebrations do Australians share with others?" "What national holidays are celebrated in Australia?" and "What international celebrations do Australians share with others?"
We found out about Chinese New Year, NAIDOC Week, Queensland Day, Boys' and Girls' Day in Japan, The Diwali Festival in India and the Trung Thu Festival in Vietnam. At the end of our unit we decided to do our own festival and we called it the FESTIVAL OF FESTIVALS. We got into groups and chose one of the festivals we had learnt about in class and we then made decorations, posters and chose music for our own parade. Mrs R recorded it!
