Last week we investigated the question "WHAT IS THE LONGEST PAPER CHAIN THAT CAN BE MADE USING AN A4 PIECE OF PAPER?"
First we made chains using plastic chain counters, then we had to record the maths that we would need to help us answer this question. We said that some of the maths would be measurement, length, width, cm, m, horizontal, vertical.
Then we wrote down our plan - how we were going to make our paper chains.
We then made our chains and we were able to check their length against the 1m ruler.
After we made our chains we compared them to each others.
We then had to estimate how long our chain was and record this on the class chart. We then measured our chains and recorded this on the chart.
Jack M and Rhys made the longest paper chains in the class. Jack's chain was 4m and Rhys' was 4.05m. We found out that to make a long paper chain you needed to cut thin strips and cut the paper both vertically and horizontally to get a mix of small and large links.
